Dr. F. Lionel Young III to lead Intercultural Ministry and World Christianity
program at Billings-based college

BILLINGS, Mont., Feb. 4, 2025 — Montana may be landlocked, but that didn’t stop it from hitting the radar of Cambridge Centre for Christianity Worldwide scholar and global ministry expert Dr. F. Lionel Young III.
In a unique agreement that could open the door for Billings to become a regional and national hub for training students for intercultural ministry in America and abroad, Dr. Young has become the new department chair for Montana Bible College’s Intercultural Ministry and World Christianity degree program.
Dr. Young is a Senior Research Associate at the Cambridge Centre for Christianity Worldwide in Cambridge, England, and the Executive Vice President of Global Action, an international nonprofit that focuses on theological education in the non-Western world. His recently published book, “World Christianity and the Unfinished Task: A Very Short Introduction,” was named by Christianity Today as one of the best books on Missions and Global Christianity.

"The addition of Dr. Young as the department chair for the Intercultural Ministry and World Christianity program affords students the opportunity to receive world-class instruction in missions from some internationally renowned evangelical leaders to bring God's Kingdom to town, nation, and world," Montana Bible College Vice President of Academic Affairs Andre Gazal said.

Montana Bible College’s Intercultural Ministry and World Christianity program is a pioneering initiative in the region. It blends Cambridge-level scholarship with practical, mission-centered training, equipping students for impactful global and local ministry. Graduates are prepared to lead as pastors, missionaries, and nonprofit leaders in an increasingly diverse world while the bridge between the local and global church will enrich the Billings community.
"MBC is truly excited to be a small college with big university connections to better equip students for ministry locally and globally,” Gazal said.
Montana Bible College is one of the only accredited four-year Bible colleges in the region. It moved from Bozeman to Billings, Mont., in 2023 and offers 14 degree programs including Pastoral Ministry, Next Generation Ministries, and Biblical Counseling. MBC also offers dual enrollment options for high school students seeking a head start on their college education.
