They're retired, they're skilled in a variety of trades, and they use both for the benefit of Christian nonprofits around the nation!
Roving Volunteers in Christ's Service has offered "a retirement plan like no other" since 1977, providing a vibrant outlet for service and community for people who have the time and the RV transportation to travel to partner service sites.
This summer, Montana Bible College had the immense privilege of being a partner site for RVICS. Five RVICS missionary couples loaded their RVs, drove to Billings, and set up camp for three weeks at MBC. They put their skills and heart for service to work, completing an impressive array of crucial projects:
Staining the deck that connects Montana Bible College's classroom, library, and administrative buildings;
painting the foundations of MBC's dorm buildings;
chopping and stacking wood for students to enjoy bonfires at the campus fire pit;
installing signage;
weeding the vast grounds around the college;
and helping complete a full renovation of two non-functional bathrooms in the Student Lounge, providing a critical space for students to gather for study and fellowship.
“The RVICS crew helped us finish the bathroom renovation in the Student Lounge on schedule. Without them, the project would have cost the college more and I doubt we would have finished before students arrived for the fall semester," MBC Resident Director Justin Sheely said.
Several Montana Bible College staff members enjoyed the privilege of leading one of the daily devotions for the RVICS missionary team. This allowed volunteers to get to know MBC's vision, mission, and needs. And it provided many cherished times of prayer together.
“My expectations were blown away by the RVICS volunteers," Sheely said. "They were very inspiring for me personally; I hope to be as enthusiastic and servant-hearted as these folks.”
