Theology of Death and Suffering

Death. We avoid the discussion around the dinner table. For that matter, the Sunday morning sermon usually steers clear as well. We avoid the subject of death because we have so few answers. Scripture gives a fairly clear picture of the impacts of death but only hints at why God would allow death in the first place. What is God doing with death? Has He lost control? How do we make sense of death in light of the cross?

Saying Goodbye to Our Son

Gary and Carol have had the pleasure of raising four children, two adopted, and two biological. In 1983, the Lord took their oldest son, Ryan, home through a ranching accident. Ryan was a 7 year old who loved the Lord with all his heart.. The family relied on God’s love and strength. There were difficult days in the healing process, but their dependence on the Lord and the support of their Christian friends and pastor helped them through. 2 Corinthians 1:3-5 has become very real in the Jimmerson’s lives. Since the loss of their son, God has allowed Gary and Carol to minister to other families that have lost children.
